I am sorry to hear of Jimmy Carl...

I am sorry to hear of Jimmy Carl Black's passing. He was a truly unique artist whom I admired. When he was in the Mothers I dug him as a role model as I was a half-breed kid from the wastes of Texas who wanted out and I looked up to him for laughs. "Lonesome Cowboy Burt" was pure genius. "Cruisin' With Ruben and the Jets" is for the ages. Jimmy Carl seemed to like people when Frank Zappa seemed to have contempt for people. Jimmy was 100% an American character.

He picked me up while I was...

He picked me up while I was hitchhiking across Los Angeles during the late 60's. Had a great time, and the first time I ran into Santa Marta Gold. God Bless you Bro' I have always had good memories of that ride, it was a definite "Sign of the Times". R.I.P.

After a few bones w/ the M.O.I....

After a few bones w/ the M.O.I. somewhere in the Village, Jimmy turns to me and says:"What R U high?" We had all come from boogieing with the Blues Project and I remember Tim Hardin puking on Jimmies Beatle boots and I replied "no, but Tim might be. My condolences to the family..You will be missed.

I'm so sorry about Jimmy's passing. I remember him telling me - while at the Garrick Theater in The Village in 1967 - that he had lost a Jesus look-alike contest because his hair was too long. He was a funny guy and very tallented. We will miss him.
