My most sincere condolences and sympathies to the family and friends of Jimmy Carl Black. His partner Husta and my mother were teachers in side-by-side special education self-contained programs at Cunningham Elementary School in Austin, Texas and were very close. I met Jimmy Carl Black through their friendship. What I remember about Jimmy was how he really connected with an aborigine from Australia through Jimmy's Native American Indian culture and ancestry. A neighbor of ours hosted an aborigine from Australia and Jimmy and Husta came to the event with my mother and I. I remember also when Husta moved to Italy and taught at the DoDDS school in Vicenza before moving to Germany. When I was married in 1992, Husta and Jimmy sent a wedding gift of a honey pine revolving spice rack with 16 jars of spices and herbs. It was a shock to my mother when she received the letter notifying her of Husta's unexpected death in 1995. Rest in peace, Husta Landers and Jimmy Carl Black.
